Separable design: the cone (inner ring with rollers) mounts independently of the cup (outer ring), which simplifies assembly on a press fit shaft. Internal clearance or preload is set during mounting, so the bearing can be tuned to the application. Normally fitted in opposing pairs to take thrust in both directions.
